Funding

Various funds are available for different human endeavors. Use the list below to apply to the applicable ones. Applicants may apply only to a single grant/fund/RFP per project.

Available Funds

Fund Description
Forgotten Written Heritage Seed Fund (FWHSF) $500 Seed fund for preservation, digitization, exploration, translation or other activities pertaining to humanity's written heritage. Preference goes to heritage works written in extinct, or near-extinct languages and scripts.
Spontaneous Project Seed Fund (SPSF) $250 seed fund for any project that has a potential to enrich the human heritage. If your project category does not have a dedicated fund associated with it, you can apply for assistance through this fund.

Common Application Format

Unless specified otherwise, all funding applications to FASHEA follow the same format. Besides the title, and the author name and affiliation, each application should at least have the following four sections:

  1. A section, up to a page long, describing the project in a language understandable to a curious ten-year old
  2. A section, up to a page long, describing the project in a language understandable to someone with a bachelors or equivalent degree in the most related discipline to the project
  3. A section, up to a page long, describing the project in a language understandable to someone with a PhD or equivalent degreee in the project subject.
  4. A section describing how the fund is going to be spent

All applications need to be submitted in PDF format. Using a minimum font size of 11, with 1.5 inches of margin on each side. For convenience a word-processor template and a LaTeX template are provided.

Application Submission

Applications can be submitted via email to funding.request@fashea.org. Make sure the subject contains the fund name abbreviation (e.g. MMRSF). All communication pertaining to the application will be via the email address through which the application was submitted. General inquiries on the funds should also be sent to the above address. Applications will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis, while the fund is available.
